2011 Willingness to Serve

The annual elections for officers and board members for the PRSA Tampa Bay Chapter will occur at the October membership meeting. All members are encouraged to complete the Willingness to Serve form, noting in which capacities you would be willing to serve the chapter. Self-nominations are strongly encouraged!

Accreditation
The Accreditation Committee promotes Accreditation within the Chapter and encourages eligible members to take the Accreditation examination. The Committee also develops a review/study program for the candidates.
Awards
Plans, promotes and produces the chapter’s annual awards and installation banquet. Plans and executes the banquet and coordinates the awards process.
Newsletter
Writes the monthly e-newsletter and coordinates its distribution.
Job Site
Coordinates postings on the chapter Web site, answers questions from job posters and ensuries that monies collected for job postings are turned over to the chapter treasurer.
Membership
Manages member recruitment and retention.
Nominations
Coordinates and facilitates annual elections at the Annual Meeting each October. The committee chair must be Accredited.
Website
Manages and maintains the chapter’s Web site, assists with other electronic media, and works with any services related to the Web site, including designers and Internet providers.
Professional Development
Promotes continuing professional education for chapter members, including planning and implementing an annual professional development seminar. In addition, this committee is responsible for evaluating and promoting National’s professional development activities (e.g., home studies, seminars, etc.).
Member Events
Plans, promotes and stages programs/speaker for regular, monthly chapter meetings.
Publicity
Promotes and publicizes the chapter and its events.
Public Service
Identifies opportunities for the chapter to serve the community.
Scholarships
Screens and selects the recipients for scholarships from two funds operated by the chapter and the University of South Florida (USF) Foundation. In addition, the committee is responsible for fund raising activities in order to raise the necessary funds to maintain and grow endowment.
Student Liaison
Cultivates a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between chapter members and the public relations students at the University of South Florida and other local colleges with public relations programs. Helps foster students’ understanding of current public relations theories and procedures. The committee chair must be Accredited.
Strategic Planning
Assists the chapter in preparing for the future by planning and facilitating chapter leadership retreats, addressing and maintaining the chapter’s multi-year plan and updating the chapter’s standard operating procedures.
